Summer Has Been Officially Unlocked/Smoothie Recipe

Hooray to Summer 2023! It is official, Summer is here, and I know that most of us are excited to commence the long-awaited activities we have planned. What is especially special about this summer is that the pandemic is behind us, and while we still have to exercise some caution, many borders are open, and the restrictions have been lifted; yay! Did someone say Travel? Since school is no longer in session, many families have travel plans and will be going on vacations or sending their children off to summer or sleep-away camp. Whatever your goals are, ensure you will be ‘summering’ this summer and creating new experiences and memories.

My family and I wanted to visit Japan and my birth country, Jamaica, for the summer, but unfortunately, we have to scrap our plans because a few things have arisen that we cannot get out of. But not to be disheartened, we still plan to make the best of the warmth or hot days. My son, who will be turning six soon, will go to summer camp for the first time. I am excited for him, and the plus is that it is only five minutes walk from our home. Additionally, we planned to take a few day trips around NYC, and my son wants to experience traveling on the train/subway. We will also attend our community events, including movie nights and several children’s activities at our local library. Most importantly, we will spend much quality time together as a family.

“Work, work, work, work, work” in Rihanna’s voice. My eldest did well in her first year at school and was invited to work as an Orientation Leader for her college, so this is an exciting time for her; guess what? Not only will she be gaining work experience, but she will also be paid; yup, she will be making her mula. And you and I know nothing is more fantastic for teens than having their own money, especially when it’s summertime. She also plans to spend time with her friends who are home from college and who will be going off to college for the first time. One of her things to do is to get her driving permit and, hopefully, her driver’s license. I pray this will work out favorably for her so I can spend less time driving her everywhere.

As for me, mommy dearest; I will be busy in my deck garden and doing my motherly and wifely duties. I also will be commencing classes in a few weeks, and I won’t say any more about that because I want to tell all in a separate post at some point. Summertime is the most eventful time in our family because we have several birthdays and an anniversary, so let the celebration begin.

Now we know how hot it gets during the summer, and of course, it would be unbecoming of me if I did not talk about “Summer Koolingz.” So I want every one of us to be wise about hydration. We must ensure that we drink adequate water and healthy juices and smoothies. So if you do not know what to drink, please check out my past summer koolingz posts. Please, as much as possible, limit or stay away from sugary, unhealthy drinks that are not good for the body.

And best of all, I have a delicious smoothie recipe for you today—no need to thank me because it is my absolute pleasure to share.
