God Will Always Make A Way/Testimony

If you asked me why I do this faith thing, I would tell you that it is the best journey I have ever embarked on. Every day is a new and different experience, opening the doors for endless adventurers, spontaneity, unpredictability challenges, character-building opportunities, and infinite blessings. Riding with the Father (God), His Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit (Comforter) is incredible and worth it on ‘reasonable and no-so-good days. Honestly, there is no other team I would want to be on.

I will not fool you into believing it is always easy; at times, I get anxious and want to go off to do my own thing. Patience is a virtue, and with God in your daily life, you can grow some. Whatever character defects you may have, a life in Christ is the solution to repairing and improving oneself.

Over the weekend, my family and I joined our church family for our first camp together since the commencement of the Adventurer Club. We were excited and could not wait to get on with it. About a week before camp, a group of us (parents and teachers) met with the Director, Sister Gilly, to go over details and ensure that we all have the necessary equipment and other resources that we may need. Since my family and I had gone camping several times, we had sleeping bags and access to tents. As a result, we advised the Director (Sister Gilly) that we were good.

A few days before the camp, my husband reached out to a close friend of ours to borrow his tent, but he told him that it broke and we would not be able to use it. My husband’s sister also has a tent, but she was four and a half hours away, so we never gave thought to getting it. This news was unexpected; of course, we now had to find other means since we did not wish to purchase one. Honestly, we were not anxious because, from experiences in the past, things always work out for our good. We did not even stop to ask God to provide one for us. The day before heading off to camp, I asked my husband if he had gotten any closer to getting a tent to borrow since that was his responsibility when he told me the most exciting news, but before I tell you, let me give a little background to this whole thing.

So my husband worked in downtown Brooklyn New York for the last month. A couple of Sundays, he had picked up overtime at another job sight in the Bronx. While at his regular job site, I believe his foreman told him that the Boss at the Bronx site requested him to come and work at that location. My husband is generally easy about things like this but had some concerns because parking was a nightmare. Anyways, he went, and while there, he mentioned to his new coworker that he was going camping over the weekend and still had not gotten a tent. To his surprise replied, saying that I had two tents if he wanted to borrow them, but he would have to pick them up from his parent’s house. What are the chances that a random conversation with a stranger was the answer to our dilemma?

But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).

You see this incredible thing about this faith journey, even before you think or ask what God will do for us. Also, there are times when it seems as if there is just no solution to the circumstances we are facing, and the wait for something to change seems endless, but God promised to supply not some but all of our needs. So since we do not know when he will provide, we have to hold unto those promises, lest we let go right before our breakthrough is about to happen. It is no wonder He says in Isaiah 55:8) For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.”

My husband was not very excited about the move because of parking issues, as I mentioned earlier, but for us to get those tents, God had to send him back to the Bronx to work to be in the presence of that coworker (the source who God was working through) and who had the tents. And might I add, it will always be quite a blessing when God is about to bless us, and as Jamaicans may say, big and boasts, haha. God is not boastful, so please do not get me wrong.

God not only allowed us to access the tents in the nick of time but also carefully thought out the location to pick them up. Collecting them was easy and convenient because my husband’s co-workers’ parents lived in the same county where we were going to camp, and they were only one town away, less than 20 minutes from the camping site. Who else but God? He does nothing half done but considers everything when He acts. I do not deserve Him or His son, but I am glad He sees beyond my faults.

God gave us “house and land” and guest quarters. So initially, we were getting a tent to fit a family of five, but God had other plans. He had something bigger and more spacious than we had in mind. The tent was so big and cool, comfortable fit eight persons, and high enough for me to stand in it at 5ft 9 inches without bending. It stood out like a sore thumb, haha. It is no wonder we got up in the wee morning hours feeling cold and wondering if fall had come early.

And if you do not believe God did this, let me add that my husband’s co-worker was transferred to another location to work. The goodness of God is indescribable, and his ways unfathomable.

I am in constant awe of how God is, and I could go on and on countless testimonies of His goodness. Throughout this journey, God has always shown up for me and my family in ways I could never imagine. I am continuously mind-blown by his love and goodness toward me. We are so undeserving of His faithfulness and commitment. But He promised to be there and is faithful to His every promise. Nothing is complicated for God; he is a burden bearer, a gift giver, a defender, a healer, a protector, and a creator.
