Can someone, anyone please press the pause button on time so my baby can continue babying longer? I cannot believe how quickly time passes; it feels like yesterday that I was preparing for the birth of my baby girl, and in the wink of an eye, she turned one. How could this be when I only want to enjoy her at this stage in her life some more? There are so many emotions floating around inside of me, primarily great ones, but in general I feel like I am on a roller coaster as I grapple with the fact that the baby of the family is already one. The saying is true: our children will not be babies forever.
So it has been 365 days around the sun, and my beloved baby Emmah-Rose is now one year old as of August 28th. She is an adorable and happy child who has brought our little family so much joy. I am beyond thankful to God for our little blessing and for guarding and protecting her. None of this would have been possible without His hands constantly at work on our behalf. And I pray, above all things, that I can at least raise her according to His will and purpose.

What is baby up to?
Emmah-Rose has been up to a whole lot. She is the busiest and most curious of my three children at this stage. She likes to explore everything within reach, and being outside makes her happy. On the flip side, she is a bit shy and reserved when it comes to people she does not know and enjoys being close to her mommy most times. She is curious about books, and I am still trying to figure out if she will be an avid reader or likes ripping them.
She also gives hugs and kisses. Whenever her brother cries, she tries to comfort him and gives him gentle taps on his shoulder while embracing him, which is the most adorable thing to see. She gets that from us because we are very affectionate towards each other.
Walking: Emmah-Rose has always been in haste to get going, so we were not surprised that she got up and started walking before she turned one. She is so excited about her newfound independence and walks just about everywhere. Whenever anyone tries to lift her, she would get upset like it’s her way of saying, I can do it all by myself.
Talking/Communicating: She is a talker who copies sounds, words, and anything she hears. A few days ago, she listened to the cows mooing and began doing the same thing. She uses words such as bye, wow, and whew, but her favorite is hi, and she says it to just about anyone she meets. It is so cute.
She also communicates by pointing. For example, she points to my breast whenever she wants to nurse, taps us to get our attention, and touches the area if she gets hurt. Her brother says she shows signs of being an upcoming tattle-tale because she cries and stares at him and then at me to let me know that he did something or took something from her.
Feeding/eating: My baby still breastfeeds regularly and enjoys various fruits and vegetables. She seems to enjoy eating blueberries, strawberries, and leafy greens. She hand-feeds herself and has started to show interest in using a spoon.
She is doing exceptionally well and enjoys copying her big sister and brother. I am excited about her future as I am sure the Good Lord has the best in store.
