May 4, 2013 – May 4, 2025
“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” – Acts 2:38.
May… what a month!
Your days are ever-changing and unpredictable: warm sun, fresh spring air, blooming flowers, showers of blessings, and yes, even the occasional chill. Just like life, May keeps us on our toes. And yet, in the midst of it all, I pause in awe. Why? Because May holds a day forever etched in my heart, the day I truly began to live — my Heavenly Birthday.
Welcome to Itz Holistically Wholesome
Here you’ll find a little bit of everything: faith, family, health, and lifestyle; all guided by my journey with Christ. If you’ve been walking this road with me, thank you. If you’re new here, welcome! I’m so glad you’re here.
How It All Started
Twelve years ago, on May 4, 2013, I took the most important step of my life — baptism. I had enough of living without full commitment to Christ. I longed for His presence. I remember the night it all began…
I was in my apartment with my daughter, and I suddenly felt a deep longing for God. I searched high and low for a Bible, but couldn’t find one. Desperation overwhelmed me, and I wept. I made up my mind: I’m going to buy a Bible this week.
When payday came, I unexpectedly received $40 extra. That morning, as I headed home through New York City, I unknowingly passed a Barnes & Noble. A voice, gentle yet clear, said: “Now you have no reason not to have a Bible.” I turned, walked in, and was directed upstairs. I found a white King James Bible, and when the cashier rang it up? It was exactly $40. I smiled, knowing God orchestrated it all.
From the moment I opened that Bible, I couldn’t put it down. I read it on the train, the bus, at home , everywhere. The more I read, the more I changed. Christ became real to me. I realized: I can’t live without this love. And so I took the plunge, into the watery grave, and rose to new life.
What I’ve Learned Over the Years
1. My Love for Christ Will Be Tested
It’s easy to say “I love God,” but real love is tested. Trials will come, and it’s our response that reveals the depth of our love. Following Jesus through storms, in obedience, proves that our love is more than just words.
2. I Must Die to the Flesh Daily
Some struggles don’t disappear but with Christ, I’ve eventually overcome habits that once ruled me. Sinful tendencies became subdued by His power, one day at a time.
3. You Will Have to Give Something Up
Sacrifice is part of the journey. I’ve had to let go of things and people I loved for the sake of Christ. But I’ve learned that God’s best is always better than my good.
4. You May Lose Friends
Over time, my circle grew smaller. But God replaced those friendships with kingdom-minded people who uplift and inspire me on this spiritual walk.
5. Your Taste Will Change
As grace transforms you, so do your desires. Looking back, I see how far God has brought me: spiritually, physically, emotionally. I now make decisions based on kingdom principles, not peer pressure or fear.
“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God,
who loved me and gave himself for me.” – Galatians 2:20
What Would I Do Differently?
I would trust God more.
I would pray and listen before every decision.
I would rest in His plan, knowing His way is always better than mine.
My Advice to You
There is nothing more meaningful than walking through life with Christ by your side. This journey is personal ; one you must take for yourself. But know this: what you put in is what you get out. Obedience unlocks unimaginable blessings.
So today, I invite you:
Repent. Be baptized. Surrender your life to Christ.
Let Him lead, and watch Him transform you from the inside out.
Thank You
Thank you for being here and allowing me to share my heart. Whether you’re just starting your journey or have walked with God for years, may you be encouraged to keep going, and growing.
God bless you richly,
Tomika Chance
