I don’t think any parent’s heart is ever fully prepared for their children’s transition into adulthood. We’re excited for them, yes, they made it, God kept them, and 21 years later, that tiny baby, that busy toddler, that energetic, curious, and at times know-it-all teenager no longer stands before you. Instead, you see a fully grown individual.
And yet, deep down, a part of you wishes they could stay little just a while longer, so you could keep showering them not only with love, but with protection and guidance.
Whelp, one of my littles is not so little anymore. On November 3, my girl Aliyah turned 21. Lord, I’m not sure I’m ready for this; but my heart is overflowing with joy and thankfulness. God did it.
Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
This week’s post is for Aliyah. A mother’s joy. Well, my joy. I pray that God will continue to carry you through every stage of life with grace. I pray that every dream you hold will come true, and that your life will leave a tremendous impact on everyone you meet. Continue to grow in Jesus’s love, and let your light so shine before others.
Happy birthday to my love. You are still my baby, even as you become everything God created you to be.
