There is always a way around
Sometimes all we need is a small “pick‑me‑up,” a reminder from the most unexpected place that life is still worth living fully.
That happened to me during a random scroll on Instagram. I stumbled upon a video of a little girl named Bria Jordan, a young basketball player with talent, fierceness, and focus far beyond her years.
In the clip, Bria was being tightly guarded by two defenders. They had her boxed in, arms outstretched, blocking every angle. Anyone watching would think she was stuck. But Bria didn’t panic. She didn’t even look at them. Her eyes stayed fixed on the direction of the ball. She waited… calm, steady, focused.
Then the whistle blew. The defenders shifted for just a moment, and Bria slipped right under an outstretched arm, broke free, caught the ball, and made the shot. They never saw it coming.
That moment hit me deeply.
The Lesson in the Lock‑In
So often in life, we let obstacles intimidate us. We stare at the opposition, challenges, delays, setbacks, and convince ourselves we’re trapped. We doubt our worth, our ability, our purpose.
But Bria showed something different:
- She acknowledged the pressure but didn’t let it distract her.
- She stayed focused on the goal.
- She trusted that an opening would come.
- And when it did, she moved with confidence.
Sometimes the “mountain” we see is really just a bump. And even if it is a mountain, there is still a way around it, but only if we stay composed, patient and focused long enough to see it.
A Faith Lesson Hidden in a Basketball Play
Just like Bria’s opponents studied her, the enemy studies us. Satan knows how meaningful we are to God, and he will do everything to block us from walking in our divine purpose. His goal is to distract us, discourage us, and make us take our eyes off Christ.
But he only succeeds if we let him.
When we stay calm, steadfast, and focused on Jesus, the enemy eventually shifts, maybe not because of a whistle, but because of God’s next move in our lives. And in that moment, God opens a path we didn’t see before. A way around. A way through. A way forward.
Your Opening Is Coming
Whatever challenge you’re facing today, don’t lose focus. Don’t surrender your purpose. Don’t let the pressure make you forget who you are and whose you are.
Stay ready. Stay steady. Stay focused.
Your moment to move past the obstacle is coming, and when it does, you’ll glide right through.
Scripture
“Fear not, for I am with you… I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you” (Isaiah 41:10).
“Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you” (Proverbs 4:25).
“I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert” (Isaiah 43:19).
Be well and be blessed.
