There truly is no better way to say it: moms are forever. There is something solemn and sacred about a mother that words can never fully capture. No human being can perfectly define what “mother” means. It is indescribable, yet deeply felt. A mother’s love settles into the soul: strong, reassuring, warm, comforting. Mothers are forever.
I love my mom. I really do. And even as a grown woman, I still need her. There are days when I long for her presence, her voice, her laughter, her comforting words, hand nothing else can fill that space but her.
My mom lives in my birth country, so we don’t see each other often. How I wish it were different. But life has a way of scattering us across distances. It has been more than a decade since I spent Mother’s Day with her, and though she arrived a day after, it was meaningful all the same.
The anticipation of her arrival made me feel like a child again, the way we would get excited when she returned home after just a few hours away. That same joy rose up in me.
My mom is one of the strongest, most resilient women I know. She does not stay down for long, and Lord knows she has had many reasons to. But she is a fighter. The way she cared for my siblings and me is admirable. Sometimes I wonder how she did it, but she did, and she did it remarkably.
Though our time together is short, I treasure every moment; the conversations, the laughter, the closeness, the simple joy of having her near.
I am forever thankful for my Mommy Chin, a daughter’s joy, and I pray that God keeps her with us for many years to come.
If you still have your mom in your life, love on her. Remind her how precious she is. And for those who have lost their mothers, may the memory of her love and warmth continue to comfort you.
Mothers need their flowers while they are alive. Let’s give it to them now.

Mommy, I love you so much. Thank you for every sacrifice, every prayer, every act of love that shaped me into the woman I am today.
Be well, and be blessed.
With love and purpose,
Tomika Chance
