The Beginning of Something New: Back to Work

This month carries a bittersweet taste for me. So much is changing, and my heart is stretched between two places: the excitement of stepping into a new season and the ache of leaving my children for hours at a time.

My last visit to the park reminded me that our days of waking up whenever we choose, heading out on spontaneous adventures, joyful moments in our little deck garden, or taking last‑minute trips are shifting. Life is becoming more structured, and that means we’ll need to be intentional about making time for the things we love.

Today, on the very day of this post, I begin training for a job, my first in nearly five years. Five years of being home with my children. Five years of loving them, caring for them, witnessing every laugh, every cry, every milestone.

And even though my heart feels tender, I know they will be well. God has blessed us with one of His own to help care for them while I’m away, and for that I am deeply grateful. They are in good hands.

Interestingly, this isn’t even the main job, it’s the job that will sustain the job. It will all make sense soon, I promise.

This morning started early and a little hectic as I hustled to make sure the children had everything they needed for a smooth day. I also wanted to ensure that Sister Keisha, the one caring for them and her daughter Victoria experienced as little chaos as possible.

God has carried us through so many seasons, and now we are stepping into a new one. We will trust Him the same way we trusted Him before.

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose” Romans 8:28.

If you and your family are going through a transitional period, just know this: God is right there in the midst of it. Trust Him. Trust the resources He has provided. Trust that He is already ahead of you preparing the way.

We will all be well, in Jesus’ name.

Be well and be blessed.

With love and purpose,
