Nature has been reminding me lately that whether the season feels calm or chaotic, I should stay in a posture of readiness. I’ll be honest, I grew tired of buying winter gear for my children only for our “neck of the woods” to barely see snow. So this year I said, Nope, not doing it. I’m saving money.
Well… wrong decision. Winter has been wintering. It’s cold so till, and the snow has been coming down like it has something to prove. As Jamaicans would say, “Ole man winter come back wid blood inna him eye.”
We improvised, of course because moms always do but my toddler had no snow boots. Still, we made it work.
Then came the blizzard. It started on Sunday and didn’t let up until midday today. The snow piled so high that it made its way up our doors. We were almost snowed in. But when the storm finally passed, the men came to clear the snow from our complex.
My husband looked at me and said, “You should make them some tea.”
And immediately my spirit said, Yes.

Serving others is second nature to me, it’s one of the ways I spread Christ’s love, not just through words but through lifestyle and simple acts of care. So I went into my kitchen and made a warm, immune-supporting blend of fresh turmeric, ginger, and peppermint.
When I finished, my husband said, “About ten cups should be good.”
I said, “Lord, I hope I made enough.”
He never told me how many men were out there, but God multiplied it. It was enough for the workers, a few neighbors, and even for us.
My neighbor Clai supplied the hot cups.

“Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” (Phillipians 2:4)
Their gratitude blessed me more than they know. And it reminded me of something simple but powerful:
Caring doesn’t always look like grand gestures. Sometimes it’s a warm cup of tea made with intention and love. Sometimes that’s enough.
Be blessed and be well.
With love and purpose,
