Be Well Wednesday: What If

What if.
Two small words that carry the weight of entire lifetimes.

We’ve all said them, sometimes out loud, sometimes only in the quiet corners of our minds.
What if I had listened? What if I had chosen differently? What if I had walked away sooner? What if I had waited? What if I had known better?

“What if” often shows up when the outcome was painful, disappointing, or confusing. It becomes the place we go to make sense of our past, or to punish ourselves for it. I’ve done it too. Many times. But lately, I’ve been learning something freeing:

The past is fixed. We cannot edit it, rewrite it, or crawl back into it.
But we can learn from it.
We can grow because of it.
We can choose differently moving forward.

“What if” only becomes powerful when it pushes us toward a better future and not when it traps us in regret.

But what if we used “What If” differently?

What if we used it not to torment ourselves…
…but to transform ourselves?

Because the truth is, many are living with sickness, stress, chronic conditions, emotional heaviness, and spiritual exhaustion. Some have tried everything —doctors, medications, surgeries, diets, and still feel stuck. And while all these things have their place, there is a deeper truth we often overlook:

Healing ultimately comes from God.
He works through doctors.
He works through medicine.
He works through lifestyle changes.
But He alone is the Source.

So here are some “What Ifs” that matter; the kind that bring clarity, alignment, and real change.

What if you need to reconnect with your Maker?

What if the first step toward healing is not a pill, a program, a procedure, a strong drink, or a spouse…
…but a relationship with God?
Talking to Him.
Seeking Him.
Putting Him first again.

“I am the vine; you are the branches… apart from Me you can do nothing” (John 15:5).

And God Himself gives us a blueprint for restoration:

“If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways…”
“…then will I hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14).

What if healing begins with humility?
What if restoration begins with returning?

What if you need to shift a few habits?

What if your body is simply asking for better fuel?
Whole foods.
Balanced meals.
More water.
More rest.
More sunshine.

Small changes can open the door to big breakthroughs.

What if you need to forgive — others and yourself?

Unforgiveness is a silent toxin.
It weighs the heart, clouds the mind, and drains the body.
What if your healing is waiting on release?

What if you need to step away from the noise?

To breathe fresh air.
To sit in nature.
To pause.
To rest.
To let your nervous system settle and your soul exhale.

What if you need to reevaluate your circle?

Your environment shapes your mindset.
Your mindset shapes your choices.
Your choices shape your life.
What if the people around you are influencing your health more than you realize?

What if you simply need to move more?

Walk.
Stretch.
Breathe.
Be intentional with the body God gave you.

What if we said “No more”?

What if we finally said no more to the things that do not serve God, do not serve us, and do not serve others well, and said yes to the things that glorify Him, strengthen us, and bless those around us?

What if obedience became our default instead of our struggle?
What if pleasing God mattered more than pleasing people?
What if we stopped entertaining what weakens us and started embracing what grows us?

What if we fled temptation instead of negotiating with it?

Joseph didn’t debate.
He didn’t linger.
He didn’t reason with sin.
He ran.

What if we did the same?
What if we stopped giving temptation a seat at our table and instead chose to flee quickly, intentionally, and without apology?

What if we purposed in our hearts not to sin against God?

Like Daniel, who purposed in his heart not to defile himself…
What if we made up our minds ahead of time?
Not in the moment of weakness, but in the place of devotion.

What if we actually meant it when we said,
“Lord, I want to honor You with my life”?

What if we were willing to sacrifice — truly sacrifice — for Christ?

Paul spoke of a thorn in his flesh.
A reminder of weakness.
A reminder of dependence.
A reminder that grace is enough.

What if we embraced our own thorns and not as punishment, but as anchors that keep us close to Jesus?

What if we chose to die daily,
to crucify the flesh,
to surrender our will,
to realign our desires,
to center our entire being on Christ?

What if we just need to be still?

What if the healing, clarity, and direction we’re searching for isn’t found in more effort…more noise…more movement…more fixing…more figuring out…

What if we just need to be still, and allow God to speak?

Stillness is not inactivity.
Stillness is alignment.
Stillness is surrender.
Stillness is the posture that says:

“Lord, I’m listening.”

Here’s the truth:

We’ve been conditioned to believe that when something is wrong, we must add something, take something, or remove something. But what if the real answer is simpler?

What if you just need to realign with God’s design?
What if healing begins with returning to His blueprint for your life; spiritually, emotionally, and physically?

Because what if can keep us stuck, stressed, and sick or it can heal, restore, and help us live a life of abundance and contentment.

Let’s realign.
Let’s return to God’s way.
Let’s choose the “What Ifs” that lead to life.

Be well and be blessed.
