SAY CHEESE!

It is so funny how some creative minds thought it would be great to say “cheese” when taking pictures. Perhaps they believed it would be very effective since many people are cheese lovers and seem very happy when they hear the word cheese. Or by saying the word “cheese,” one’s lips automatically form into a smile. Who knows? The fact is that the idea was genius. Let us face it, cheese may not be the most healthy for us, but we can all agree that it tastes delicious, and we love it when our food tastes scrumptious, right? Cheese is possibly one of the main reasons, so many people are hesitant about transitioning to a plant-based or vegan diet. They cannot imagine a life without cheese.

When I met my husband, he was already a vegetarian for many years. He wanted to adopt a dairy-free or vegan diet, but he was stuck being a vegetarian because he loved cheese. Pizza, spaghetti, and sauce with grated mozzarella cheese on top were two of his favorite things to eat. No matter how many vegan cheese options he tried, it was not good enough to make him want to give up cheese. Eventually, we found a pizza spot with the best mac and cheese pizza ever, and he stopped eating dairy altogether. He would still eat meals made with vegan cheese but was not particularly fond of it. So, as a result, he would add a lot of hot sauce. He became so dependent on the hot sauce that he also carried a bottle in his car in case a vegan cheese-based dish was served at church or any social gathering we attended.

A few months ago, we went to a particular store to buy specific vegan or plant-based products. Unfortunately, there was none when we went to the aisle to get our regular vegan cheese, which I loved personally. They told us that the supermarket no longer carried it. I was disappointed, and being a skeptic regarding food, I was hesitant about trying something else. My husband on the other hand enjoys trying different foods. The brand they now had was “Violife,” but after reading the label, I decided to try it. Since we were making pizza for dinner that day, we picked up the mozzarella shredded cheese, and let me tell you; it was the winner. Not only does it melt well, but hubby loves the taste of it. My kids love the taste as well and it has become our new favorite vegan cheese.

I must add that their smoked provolone slices are delicious as well. I never enjoyed eating vegan cheese unless it was a part of a meal, but now I snacked on that smoke cheese like it is nobody’s business. So, if you are thinking about giving up dairy but are a lover of cheese, you can try “Violife.” Not only is it 100% vegan, but it is free from soy, gluten, lactose, nuts, and preservatives. It is also NON-GMO.

Leave a comment to let me know if you tried Violife and loved the taste.
