Clove has been sitting in our kitchen cabinet for a few years without being used. Indeed, I purchased it to add to our meals, but it got overlooked somehow. I guess that is what happens when you do not have more than a surface knowledge about something that can be of utmost benefit to you. I did not know how powerful a herb clove was then, but glory to God, about a year ago, I saw the light (information), and let’s say I have been walking in it ever since. Singing:
” I saw the light, I saw the light
No more darkness, no more night
Now I’m so happy, no sorrow in sight
Praise the Lord, I saw the light“
Okay! Let me take a moment to add that we are the same as God; some acknowledge that He exists but carry on as if He is not there, while others ignore His existence because we do not know about Him. Just like the clove, Unless we know God for who He is and understand how important He is to our lives, then and only then will we remove from the back or the minor position in our lives and elevate Him to His rightful place, which is first place or at the top. And if you never heard of Him or heard and do not know Him, there are ways to do so. Proverbs 18:15 states, “The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge, for the ears of the wise seek it out.” In other words, if we consider ourselves intelligent, we are to seek knowledge continuously. We should not be content with not knowing; therefore, if you read this post and fall in the category of “I do not know God, find out about Him before denying He is. The Holy Bible is a safe place to start.
As I was saying about clove, about a year ago, my dad called to ask me to buy him a whole clove because he learned it was a potent herb. I immediately remembered the jar of entire clove in my kitchen cabinet and, believe it or not, a bottle of clove essential oil that I had. My curiosity arose, and so I began reading about it. Here is what I found out:
Cloves are an aromatic spice made from the dried flowers of the clove evergreen and are native to the North Moluccas Islands in Indonesia. The trees grow to about 26-40 feet and begin flowering after almost six years. Over the years, it has spread to other countries and is a popular spice for various cuisines such as Currie. However, cloves are used for many purposes besides cooking and have tremendous benefits. Three of which I am going to discuss in further detail below:
- Toothache – Cloves contain anti-inflammatory, antifungal, antiviral, and antibacterial properties. The powerful molecule eugenol is its main compound, which has helped to reduce inflammatory response in the body, reducing the risk of diseases such as arthritis’s. Eugenol is a natural anesthetic that can relieve toothache. To use, apply clove oil directly to toothache to stop pain. I have also infused clove in boiling water, cool, and use it as mouthwash. Just store it in the fridge.
- Hair – Cloves contain high levels of antioxidants and nutrients that can add to the growth and strength of your hair. It can protect the scalp from dandruff, which contributes to weak or thin hair, and its anti-inflammatory properties help thicken hair and reduce breakage. I have added this to my homemade hair oil and infused it in water to spray my hair.
- Boost Sexual Health – Clove can help boost the overall health of men and women, including sexual health. In women, it increases sexual desires, promotes fertility, and reduces menstrual symptoms. In men, it increases sexual hormone production (testosterone and prolactin), remedies erectile dysfunction, and increases sperm count and motility. Revelation 22:1-2, “On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.”
What I love about our Creator is that He has given us the bible as a blueprint for our health and well-being and, might I add, eternal life, which should be our ultimate. It is just like when you buy a car, kitchen gadget, or whatever else; they all come with instructions from the manufacturer. Why? So that we know how to operate it and what to do when things go wrong. And, of course, we follow the instructions because we know the value of what we have and need it for our intended purposes. So, should we not do the same for ourselves to ensure health and proper care? Food for thought.
